Going into Manhattan and finding a parking spot not too park from the zoo can be daunting. However Central Park Zoo offers a lot of attractions for kids that it is worth the hazzle.
The walrus statue is impressive. I took a picture of my baby sitting on top of it, with my husband holding her of course.
Watching the white bear swimming back and forth in the water is entertaining.
As a parent we are suppose to continually expose our children to new experiences to enrich their vocabulary, and build connections between their brain synapses which is very important in raising intelligent children.
The NY Hall of Science in 47-01 111th Street, Queens, NY is a great children's museum in New York. It has a lot to offer to young inquisitive minds.
There is a colorful mural of a collage of children's drawn faces on the wall outside the museum .
There are a lot of hands on interactive galleries but my toddler's favorite is the Tot Spot. We can hardly take her away from the toy crane truck. She likes getting in and out of it, sitting on the seat and pretending she is on a ride. It's very popular though so we have to pry her away from it any time someone wants to try it. She also tried riding the motorcycle in the gas station in the corner. It is really cute that you can pretend pumping gas into the motorcycle! There is also an enclosed area that make children feel that they are inside a bus there are even a costume of bus driver's uniform for those who wants to try it.
There is also bubble fun in another gallery (although it can be slippery so use extreme caution when everything is covered with soap and bubbles).
We enjoyed seeing ourselves on TV in the Communication Station.
Recording our voice and hearing the output in the radio room is certainly fun!
Spinning the big wheel requires a little effort for our little darling but she get the hang of it.
There is a wall of numbers in English, Spanish and sign language.
Visiting NY Aquarium is fun! There are a lot to see! Jelly fish, lego penguins, sea lions, turtles, etc. Being greeted by the lego penguins is such a neat idea! Watching the sea lions perform is such a treat! Looking at the antics of the turtles as they move back is fascinating. My toddler was enthralled!
Watching my baby have a blood test is hard! Why do they have to take 8 vials of drop? In this day and age you would think just a drop should be enough to learn everything they have to know! don't we watch it in TV where they only prick adults and get results? Why can't they do this to babies? To make the matter worst the technician made a mistake and said that one of the vials is not filling up right so he had to threw it out and get another vial of blood! Ah! So unnecessarily cruel!!!
Seeing your baby walk is awesome! My husband and I had been seeing her take a step or two certainly one step but we were not sure about the second step sometimes since she usually get up, step forward and launch herself into our arms so we were not sure if she is really taking a second step or not! However, the day after Father's Day she just got up from the floor took a step and kept going for a few steps more until she fall down. I was so surprised I just stared at her, I couldn't take my eyes off her! By the time I had the camera she already fall down. I called my husband immediately! I follow my baby the rest of the day with the camera and I managed to get nice video of her walking! I'm so proud of her I posted it in Facebook! I want to tell the world that my baby is walking!
I hate vaccination especially as I don't believe in them! My husband wants them though so what I can do? Last vaccination, my baby's thigh had this hard lump where she got the shot. It is also swollen and red. On top of that she had fever! The pediatrician said that vaccination protects her. I believe my baby's immune system protects my baby from the toxin that the pediatrician injected. It's not the vaccine that protects her it is her immune system! The vaccine just weaken and irritate her strong immune system!!!
I was very surprised when the nurses asked me to leave a sample of urine in the bathroom. I thought I was done with this since I already delivered my baby so when I arrived and went to the bathroom I didn't leave a sample like I usually do during my prenatal check-up.. I tried after they told me that it was still needed but there is only a bit. My OBGYN just looked at the incision of my c-section delivery and told me I am healing fine. She told me to try to wash the glue off. (They used crazy glue on me instead of stitches during the operation). I don't use band-aid over the incision anymore but there were still glue around it. Frankly, because I am afraid to scrub my wash cloth vigorously on my incision, I usually just pat it with soap then pat it dry with a hot towel.
We were not sure but my husband and I both had the impression that the pediatrician hit the top of our baby's head at the top the measuring table when he was measuring my daughter's length. He did it so fast we were not so sure but my baby started crying hard then. He also flipped my daughter in one motion like a pancake, without supporting her neck or head. I was worried because my baby's nose and mouth was pressed on the measuring table while he was listening to her lungs through his stethoscope on my daughter's back.
With my baby's screaming for a while, I believe it is understandable that I don't want to see this pediatrician again so I couldn't believed it when my husband and the pediatrician agreed that we will come back after a week because my husband was concerned that my baby lost weight (4ounces) I told him that the pediatrician in the hospital warned me that she would lost weight before gaining weight.
My husband also admitted when we were already alone in the car that the pediatrician was rough with our baby but told me he seemed to be a nice guy (which for me is not good enough if he was rude to me but gentle with my baby I would like him better). However my husband wanted to gave him another chance because his clinic is just a few blocks from us that I could take a taxi in case of emergency. Honestly though, I think I would only bring my baby to the doctor when extremely necessary.
